TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona Baseball starting shortstop Jacob Blas has been selected to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, the College Baseball Foundation announced on Tuesday.

The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation. In its current iteration, the award has been presented annually since 2009 and includes former winners such as Jedd Gyorko, Alex Bregman, Dansby Swanson, and other standouts.

Blas has started in 35 games for the Wildcats this year, serving as the teams everyday shortstop. He is currently hitting .262 with 28 runs scored, five extra-base hits, and 23 RBI. The sophomore has logged 10 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI performances for his contribution to the nation's most potent offense.

Defensively, Blas has been involved in 14 of the Wildcats 25 double plays turned this season. He has played error-free ball 26 times this season and flipped multiple double plays in a game four times.

Blas and the Wildcats continue their series against the Utah Utes tonight at 6:00 p.m. MST, with Arizona aiming to secure their sixth-straight Pac-12 series victory.
