Josh McCauley Named to the Rimington Trophy Watchlist

TUCSON, Ariz. – For the third time in his career, Josh McCauley has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watchlist, which recognizes the top center in the country. The former walk-on has started all 27 games he has played in in the last three seasons and has anchored the Wildcats offensive line from the center position.

Last season, he helped pave the way for big rushing games by Wildcat backs that included 268 yards vs. Colorado and 158 yards vs. USC.

The Mesa, Ariz. native helped the Wildcats average 174 yards on the ground in 2019 and started all 12 games at center in 2018 when Arizona had the Pac-12's top rushing unit (202.4 ypg). Additionally, he was a key piece of the 2018 line that allowed the third-fewest sacks in the Pac-12.

This year, the Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. PFF grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment. That play-by-play grading allowed the Trophy committee to create a watchlist based both on nominations from the school and data provided by PFF.
