SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced that Arizona sophomore Bennedict Mathurin has been named the conference's player of the week for his play in the two games against Oregon State and Oregon last week.
 
It's the third time Mathurin has been the recipient of the weekly honor, the most for an Arizona player since Derek Williams in 2010-11. It's also the fifth time an Arizona player has been named player of the week, matching the most by the Wildcats in a season in 1987-88, 1992-93 and 2000-01.
 
For the week, Mathurin averaged 22 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 48% from the field and 46% from the 3-point line. Scored 20 points against Oregon State and added a game-high 24 against Oregon, snapping a seven-game skid for the Wildcats against the Ducks.
 
Arizona is currently 14-1 in Pac-12 play and has a 2.5 game lead on USC in the conference standings heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. The Wildcats are on the road this week, taking on Utah on Thursday and Colorado on Saturday before hosting Stanford and California next week.
