SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced its weekly honors for men's basketball on Monday and Arizona sophomore forward Azuolas Tubelis was named the Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Last year, he was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on two occasions.
 
Tubelis joins teammates Christian Koloko (Nov. 22) and Bennedict Mathurin (Dec. 6, Dec. 13)  to make three different UA players to receive the conference's weekly award this season. The last time a Pac-12 team did that was Arizona State during the 2018-19 season.
 
In the wins over then #3 UCLA and then #19 USC, Tubelis shot 54.2% from the floor while averaging 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. He recorded his fourth career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds against USC. Against UCLA, he finished with 14 points and five rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. And he played both games with his mother, Valentina, in attendance while making her first-ever trip to the United States.
 
For the season, Tubelis is averaging 14.4 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 54.6% from the floor. He also has 19 blocked shots and 18 steals while being named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Top 10 Watch List.
 
Arizona has now had a player named Player of the Week a conference-leading 105 times, which is 22 more than UCLA in second place.
 
The Wildcats have a busy week on deck, playing at Arizona State tonight (7pm, FS1) followed by a visit to Washington State and Washington later in the week.
