No. 11 Wildcats Face Road Test at New Mexico

| By:
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Fresh off a series sweep over the preseason Pac-12 favorites, the No. 11 Arizona Wildcats (16-4, 5-1) now face a Wednesday night road test against the New Mexico Lobos (8-12, 3-3). First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. MST.

Arizona will start right-hander Chandler Murphy, who will be making his second appearance of the season after missing the first stretch of games due to injury.

The Wildcats offense remains red hot this year and currently ranks among the top three teams in the Pac-12 in nearly every statistical category.

Wednesday's game will be available to stream online via the Mountain West Network.

Leading Off...

  • The Arizona Wildcats venture to Albuquerque for a Wednesday tilt against the New Mexico Lobos. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
  • Arizona leads the all-time series against New Mexico, 172-33. In their most recent meeting, earlier this month on March 8 in Tucson, the Wildcats earned the 12-5 victory. Arizona's Daniel Susac homered in that March 8 game.
  • Wildcats outfielder Chase Davis has hit eight home runs this year, tying him with Oregon State's Jacob Melton for first in the Pac-12. His eight homers also rank tied for 16th among all Division I players.
  • Arizona has scored at least one run in 192 consecutive games, the longest active scoring streak in the Power Five and the second-longest in program history. They are 40 games away from tying the longest streak in school history.
  • Sophomore catcher Daniel Susac hit two home runs and drove in five RBI in the first inning of Arizona's rubber match against California two weeks ago. He became the first Arizona player to hit two HR in an inning since Kenny Corley on Feb. 13, 1998.
  • The Wildcats lead the Pac-12 with 76 extra-base hits this season. Since moving to Hi Corbett Field in 2012, Arizona has swatted 1,737 XBH, well over 150 more than the next closest team over that decade-plus stretch.
  • Arizona's has dominated the seventh and eighth innings this year, outscoring opponents 65-24 and hitting .384 (68x177) with 18 extra-base hits across those frames.
