SEATTLE, Wash. — The Wildcats duo of
Daniel Susac and
TJ Nichols powered Arizona (19-7, 7-3) to a 8-3 series-opening victory over the Washington Huskies (14-11, 5-5) on Friday night.
Susac led the Wildcats offense, crushing two home runs and finishing the night 4-for-5 with six RBI; it was the seventh multi-HR game of the sophomore's career. Defensively at catcher he also threw out a runner attempting to steal second.
Left fielder
Chase Davis also homered against the Huskies, an opposite field blast for his team-leading ninth dinger of the season.
Starting pitcher
TJ Nichols cruised for the majority of the game and ultimately gave the Wildcats seven innings of three-hit work. Nichols allowed three runs and struck out five to earn the win and improve to 4-1 on the year.
Right-hander
Quinn Flanagan relieved Nichols and slammed the door on the Huskies, holding the hosts hitless while striking out two over the final two frames.
