Wildcats Double Up No. 2 Beavers, Secure Series Win

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (35-18, 16-11) rallied for nine runs between the fifth and seventh innings to top No. 2 Oregon State (40-11, 19-8) on a final score of 10-5 and secure a series win.

Sunday's win guarantees a winning conference record for the Wildcats in their first season under head coach Chip Hale. It also marked the first time the Wildcats have won back-to-back series against the Beavers since taking three straight from 2003-05.

While the offense buzzed back into the game the Arizona bullpen held steady. In total, four relievers combined to hold Oregon State scoreless on just four hits over the final six innings of the rubber match. Right-hander Chris Barraza (2-0) earned the win after his scoreless sixth inning performance.

Following Barraza's zero, left fielder Chase Davis gave the Cats the lead with a two-run home run, his team-leading 15th of the year. An inning earlier, a three-run shot to left field from center fielder Mac Bingham brought Arizona within one run of Oregon State after having trailed 5-1 earlier in the game.

Starting pitcher Anthony Susac did not factor into the decision after his three innings of work to open the game.
