Arizona Drops Midweek Matchup to Grand Canyon

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (32-15) fought and rallied but ultimately fell to the Grand Canyon Antelopes (31-15) on a final score of 11-7 on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field.

Starting pitcher Eric Orloff worked a career-high five innings for the Wildcats and allowed four runs on six hits. He did not factor into the decision.

Third baseman Tony Bullard paced the offense with a three-hit performance, while he and catcher Daniel Susac both drove in multiple runs. Five Wildcats picked up multiple base knocks in the 13-hit performance.

Arizona rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at 7-7. Second basemen Garen Caulfield opened the scoring with an RBI double, first baseman Tommy Splaine got the Cats within one run with his first triple of the year, and Bullard evened the game with an RBI single into center field.

Grand Canyon went on to plate four runs in the top of the ninth to take the lead and create the final margin of 11-7.
