CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Arizona catcher Daniel Susac has been selected as a Second Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced this morning.
Susac, who was a consensus All-American and Freshman All-American following the 2021 campaign, becomes the 13th two-time All-American in program history and the first since Kurt Heyer in 2011 and 2012. The only other Wildcat catcher to accomplish the feat was Alan Hall in 1959 and 1960.
As the Wildcats everyday starting catcher, Susac started all 60 games for Arizona prior to this weekend's NCAA Coral Gables Regional. Across 250-plus at-bats, he leads the team with a .367 batting average and has produced 49 runs, 19 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, and 61 RBI. His 94 hits lead the Pac-12 and rank tied for fifth among all Division I players.
He has also been a steady force defensively behind the plate, registering a .986 fielding percentage on a team-high 424 chances and throwing out eight attempted base stealers.
The Roseville, California native has posted one of the greatest two-year stretches at the plate in Arizona history, logging time in 121 games with 97 runs scored, 70 extra-base hits, 126 RBI, and a .351 career batting average.
Susac and the Wildcats kick off the NCAA Coral Gables Regional on Friday with a postseason rematch against Ole Miss. First pitch is scheduled for approximately 55 minutes following the conclusion of game one between Miami and Canisius, which is currently scheduled for 7:00 a.m. MST.
