OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Wildcats (39-22) fell to Texas (45-20-1), 2-5 in Sunday's elimination game. The Wildcats scored two runs on four hits, with two RBI.
Four Wildcats had hits in the game, with
Carlie Scupin driving in both runs that Arizona scored.
Texas struck first with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
With the bases loaded for Arizona in the top of the fourth, Scupin hit a single down the right field line to drive in two runs to give the Cats the lead.
The Longhorns regained the lead on a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. They added one to their lead in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly.
Arizona wasn't able to reach base in the final two innings to make a comeback.
Hanah Bowen (14-12) started the game and struck out two batters through 3.0 innings before
Devyn Netz entered in relief and pitched the final three innings, allowing four runs.
