TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball outfielder
Tanner O'Tremba, a standout student-athlete on the field and in the classroom, was recently named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American.
O'Tremba is the 15th student-athlete in program history to earn the distinction and the 12th to earn First Team honors (first since 1998). He is also one of just three Pac-12 players represented on the Academic All-American First Team.
The Parker, Colorado native, who graduated from the University of Arizona last month with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, proudly sported an incredible 4.0 grade point average and was a member of the 2021 Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll. His efforts in the classroom were a key piece to the Wildcats record-setting spring team GPA.
Across 64 games this season, O'Tremba logged a .351 batting average with 52 runs scored and 56 RBI. He led the team in doubles (21), slugging percentage (.591), and on-base percentage (.446) and ranked second on the squad in total bases (153). As the team's everyday starting right fielder he posted a nearly-flawless .991 fielding percentage on 114 chances.
He strung together multiple extended on-base streaks, including a 40-game streak that remained active as of the end of the season. His 40-game streak is tied for the third longest since 1998.
O'Tremba and the Wildcats finished their season last weekend at the NCAA Coral Gables Regional, where they went 2-2 and logged elimination game victories over No. 4 seed Canisius and No. 1 seed Miami.
