Arizona Athletics Sets Academic Record in Summer Semester

TUCSON, Ariz. – The unparalleled success of Arizona student-athletes in the classroom continued as Arizona Athletics posted its all-time high summer semester GPA with an impressive mark of 3.288 while extending the department's streak of consecutive semesters above a 3.0 GPA to 12.

"The historic academic success of Arizona student-athletes continues to reach new heights every semester," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. "Our Wildcat Way mission to develop student-athletes into academic, athletic and life champions is being fulfilled in record-breaking fashion. Excellence in the classroom is a hallmark of what it means to be a Wildcat. I would like to congratulate our student-athletes and our dedicated C.A.T.S Academics staff for continuing to live the Wildcat Way as a point of pride for our athletics department and university."

Summer 2022 saw 136 student-athletes earn a 4.0 GPA while 221 earned a 3.0 or above. Seven of Arizona's programs set all-time highs for summer GPA's that includes men's basketball, football, women's basketball, softball, women's tennis, women's cross country and volleyball. Men's basketball had the highest summer GPA of all men's programs with a 3.510 while women's tennis and women's cross country tied for the women's title with perfect 4.0 GPA's.

Arizona Athletics posted a 3.082 overall semester GPA in the spring, which was its second highest spring GPA in department history. Arizona's 3.157 GPA in the Fall of 2021 was the highest semester GPA in department history and marked the seventh consecutive year that Arizona has broken its Fall overall semester.
