Last Friday, Arizona opened the season in strong fashion, highlighted by
Talie Bonds and
Jordan Geist breaking school records in the 60m hurdles and the shot put. Additionally, seven competitors, including Bonds and Geist, won their event and 16 new personal bests were also set. Furthermore, six Wildcats posted NCAA Top 16 marks: Geist (One in shot put), Bonds (Six in 60m hurdles, 15 in high jump),
Alexa Porpaczy (Seven in high jump),
Zach Landa (11 in shot put), and
Youssef Koudssi (13 in shot put).
Â
The men's team enters the weekend ranked 23rd in the USTFCCCA rankings. On Tuesday, Jan. 24, Geist was also named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for his record-setting performance at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. His school-record throw of 21.48m (70-5.75) is 10th all-time in NCAA history for the indoor shot put. Geist and the Wildcats will look to replicate that success with two new opportunities this weekend.

A meet recap will be posted to ArizonaWildcats.com detailing the competition results. Live updates will also be posted to @ArizonaTrack on Twitter.
