LUBBOCK, Texas – The Arizona track and field team concluded their two-meet weekend on Saturday.
Jordan Geist led the way for the Wildcats, winning the shot put for the second straight meet.
TEXAS TECH FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Once again,
Jordan Geist won the men's shot put with a toss of 21.27m (69-9.5). Geist had three of his throws surpass 21m in distance. Additionally,
Youssef Koudssi placed fifth, and
Zach Landa finished eighth.

In the first event of the day,
Mackenna Orie and
Tapenisa Havea finished first and second in their shot put event group, and sixth and seventh overall. Havea had a PR throw of 15.77m (51-9) and led going into the final, but Orie's toss of 15.87m (52-0.75) was enough to edge out her Wildcat teammate.

Senior
Katie Daily broke her personal record and placed second overall in the women's pole vault after clearing 4.18m (13-8.5). In the men's pole vault,
Tanner Kippes also set a new indoor PR after a clearance of 5.09m (16-8.25).

Seniors
Alexa Porpaczy and
Talie Bonds both cleared 1.81m (5-11.25) in the women's high jump. Porpaczy placed third overall and Bonds placed fifth.

In their first collegiate triple jump, freshmen
Taylen Wise and
Esther Akinlosotu placed fifth and seventh in their event group. Wise had a bound of 12.60m (41-4.25) and Akinlosotu had a leap of 12.52m (41-1).
Rylee Perkins also broke her personal record with a jump of 12.13m (39-9.75).

TEXAS TECH TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
Neysia Howard and
Jenica Bosko both set big personal records in the women's 200m. Howard clocked a 23.68, which just barely beat out Bosko's time of 23.69. Additionally,
Presley Money set a new PR with a time of 25.83. In the men's 200m,
Diego Marquez ran a 22.12 which is a new personal best as well.

The Wildcats ended the meet with a fourth-place finish in the men's 4x400m.
Carl Hicks,
Isaac Davis,
Logan Hasher, and
Lyricc Lopez combined to run a 3:08.66.

UW TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the men's mile,
Iker Sanchez Lopez lowered his PR by nearly seven seconds, running a 4:00.87 to finish 10th overall. Additionally,
Sailor Hutton,
Alisa Lyesina, and
Cade Russo also all set new personal bests in various events. Hutton clocked a 9:37.42 in the 3000m. In the women's 800m, Lyesina ran a 2:07.16 and placed eighth. Finally, Russo finished with a time of 1:54.94 in the men's 800m.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will once again send competitors to two meets next week. The first meet, the WSU Open/Invite & Multi's, will be in Spokane, Wash., from Thursday, Feb. 2, to Saturday, Feb. 4. The second competition, the Ron Mann Classic, is in Flagstaff, Ariz., on Friday, Feb. 3, and Saturday, Feb. 4.
