SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Carlie Scupin and
Allie Skaggs were named to the first-ever Preseason All-Pac-12 team, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Scupin, a junior from Tucson, is coming off an All-Region campaign in 2022. In the 2022 season, Scupin hit 19 home runs to rank third on the team and 19th in single season history at Arizona. She was second on the team in batting average (.369) and slugging percentage (.765). Scupin was named to the USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List entering the 2023 season.
Skaggs enters her junior year following an All-American season that led Arizona to the Women's College World Series for the 25th time in program history. The junior from Louisville, Kentucky led the Wildcats and co-led the Pac-12 with 24 home runs in 2022. Skaggs tallied 65 hits while hitting .367 with a .797 slugging percentage last season.
Arizona was selected to finish fifth in the Preseason Pac-12 Coaches Poll.
The duo will open the season with the Wildcats on Thursday, February 9 against Long Beach State at Hillenbrand Stadium.
