TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (3-2) dropped their home opener in eleven innings on Friday night to the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) on a final score of 6-5.
Arizona dropped the wild, back-and-forth affair after rallying for two tying runs in the bottom of the eighth without recording a hit in the inning.
Starting pitcher
TJ Nichols worked 5.2 innings and allowed four runs on nine hits. He struck out nine while issuing just one walk and did not factor into the decision.
