TUCSON, Ariz. — Driven by two home runs and seven RBI from center fielder
Mac Bingham, the Arizona Wildcats (4-3) secured a 15-5 victory in the series finale against the West Virginia Mountaineers (4-3) on Sunday afternoon.
Bingham's seven RBI were a career-high mark, three better than his previous high-water mark of four set on the opening weekend of the 2022 season. He fell just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and one hit shy of the Wildcats first five-hit game since 2018.
Arizona's offense was clicking on all cylinders from the first inning onward; eight of nine starters logged a hit with six recording multiple base knocks. The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the opening frame and never looked back, extending their lead with at least one run in every inning through the sixth.
Starting pitcher
Bradon Zastrow worked 4.2 innings and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out a pair. He did not factor into the decision.
Four Arizona relievers held the Mountaineers to just one unearned run over the final 4.1 innings of the afternoon.
Dawson Netz (who earned the win),
Casey Hintz,
Jackson Kent, and
Hayden Lewis allowed just two combined hits and struck out two.
