TUCSON, Ariz. – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) released their late season watch list for the 2022-23 Oscar Robertson Trophy and Arizona forward
Azuolas Tubelis was among the 15 players to make the cut.
Members of the association's board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the Year.
The 2023 Oscar Robertson Trophy is to be presented by its namesake at the NCAA Final Four in Houston. A formal presentation will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
Tubelis leads the Pac-12 in scoring and rebounding and is looking to become just the seventh player in the history of the conference to pull off that feat in a season, joining the likes of Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton to name a few.
The Lithuanian big man has 11 double-doubles to his credit this season as well as a masterful 40-point outing against Oregon. He is also one of ten finalists for the Karl Malone Award for the nation's top power forward and on the Naismith Trophy Midseason Watch List.
