LOS ANGELES — The Arizona Wildcats (12-6, 3-3) mounted a ninth-inning comeback that fell just short in a 6-4 loss to the UCLA Bruins (15-3, 5-1) on Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Chase Davis blasted a two-run home run to cut the deficit to two runs and the Wildcats sent the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth but could not complete the four-run rally.
Starting pitcher
Aiden May turned in 4.1 effective innings for Arizona, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out five. He did not factor into the decision.
The Wildcats used six pitchers out the bullpen who combined to strike out five more Bruin batters.
