PHOENIX, Ariz. – No. 16 Arizona Men's Golf caps a busy week of action with the Thunderbird Collegiate, which begins with 36 holes on Friday, April 14. Hosted by Arizona State, the 54-hole event comes just two days after the Wildcats competed in the prestigious Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, California. The weekend event at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix is Arizona's final tournament before Pac-12 Championships, which commence at Stanford Golf Course in two weeks.

"This weekend will certainly test our guys by playing 54 holes in two days following a challenging three days at the Western Intercollegiate earlier this week," said head coach Jim Anderson. "Our group is determined and focused as we take a desert golf environment that we know very well. The Thunderbird Collegiate will serve as a good opportunity to play quality golf and take momentum with us into Pac-12's later this month."

The five-person lineup for the Wildcats this weekend will feature the senior tandem of Chaz Aurilia and Chase Sienkiewicz. Junior Sam Sommerhauser will also compete alongside underclassmen Tiger Christensen and Filip Jakubcik. Arizona will also have a trio of individual competitors making the trip up I-10 in Zach Pollo, Yannick Malik and Johnny Walker.

The Cats finished ninth at the Western Intercollegiate with Christensen and Jakubcik each carding rounds of 66 that tied the lowest round by a Wildcat in the event. Sommerhauser led the team at Pasatiempo Golf Club earlier this week, posting a top-25 finish at the event.

Arizona last played in the Sun Devils' home tournament in 2021 with a ninth-place finish at 16-under par. Sienkiewicz, then a sophomore, posted a top-10 finish with a score of 10-under.
