McClaughry and Long Earn Watch List Selections

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona shortstop Nik McClaughry and right-handed pitcher Trevor Long both earned spots on national award watch lists this week. McClaughry earned a spot on the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, while Long was selected to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List.

McClaughry is one of 101 shortstops on the radar of the selection committee at the College Baseball Foundation, who award the Brooks Wallace Award to the nation's top Division I shortstop. The Wildcat standout is in his third year at Arizona and is currently hitting .316 with 49 runs scored, eight doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 27 RBI. His golden glove has steered the senior to a sparkling .982 fielding percentage on 170 chances. McClaughry is currently tied for the Pac-12 lead in both runs scored and defensive assists (117).

Long represents Arizona on the 56-player Midseason Watch List for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, presented annually to the nation's premier relief pitcher. After appearing on the award's Preseason Watch List, Long has made 20 appearances and piled up two wins, four saves, and 18 strikeouts. His four saves this season give him 11 for his career, the 10th most in program history.

McClaughry, Long, and the Wildcats are back in action tomorrow night in the first of three road games at No. 22 Oregon State this weekend. All three games can be watched on the Pac-12 Networks and listened to on Wildcats Radio 1290 AM.
