USC Edges Arizona 4-3

TUCSON, Ariz. - #29 USC edged #45 Arizona in a tight 4-3 match on Saturday, April 8 at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. This marks the closet match between the Wildcats and the Trojans in over 20 years. 

The 'Cats won the doubles point against the Trojans for the first time since 2012. Salma Ziouti and Reece Carter were quick to defeat Naomi Cheong and Sloane Morra 6-1 at two doubles then sophomore Wildcat duo Belen Nevenhoven and Midori Castillo clinched the point 6-2 on court three after a big return by Nevenhoven. 
 
In singles play, the 'Cats picked up two singles wins which is the most individual victories against the Trojans since 2017. Freshman Tanvi Narendran took Sloane Morra to three sets after falling 2-6 in the first then battled back to win 6-3, 6-2 at six singles. The Tucson native is now 11-7 in dual matches and tied for second on the team in singles wins. Fry grabbed the next singles victory for Arizona on court five against McKenna Koenig. The Wildcat sophomore also took her Trojan opponent to three sets, besting Koenig 6-1 in the first then coming up short 3-6 in the second before ultimately winning 6-4 in the final set. 

Women's Tennis is now 14-11 overall and 1-6 in Pac-12 play. They are back at home next Friday, April 14 to host Utah at 1:30 p.m. MT.
