Wildcats To Play Purdue in Indianapolis

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's basketball program has announced another non-conference opponent for the 2023-24 season, as the Wildcats will take on Purdue at the second annual Indy Classic in Indianapolis.

The game will be played on Dec. 16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home of the NBA's Indiana Pacers. Game time and TV information will be announced at a later date.

Arizona is a preseason Top 15 team heading into the 2023-24 season with a strong returning nucleus of Oumar Ballo, Pelle Larsson and Kylan Boswell coupled with a trio of outstanding incoming transfers in Keshad Johnson (San Diego State), Jaden Bradley (Alabama) and Caleb Love (North Carolina).

Purdue is prominently featured as a preseason Top 5 team in the country highlighted by the return of Zach Edey, the 2022-23 National Player of the Year.

Arizona and Purdue have squared off 12 times previously, dating all the way to the first meeting in West Lafayette, Ind., in 1934. The most recent matchup came during the 2017-18 season in Nassau, Bahamas as part of the Battle for Atlantis. The complete list of the all-time series can be found below. This will be the second time the Wildcats and Boilermakers have met in Indianapolis after Purdue came away with a 72-69 win in Gainbridge Fieldhouse (at the time it was Conseco Fieldhouse) on Nov. 25, 2000.
