TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona completes their Friday matches against BYU and doubles against Michigan State. The Wildcats fell short to BYU after a 4-1 loss, but came back later in the day to earn the doubles point against Michigan State. 

The Cats started off strong as Brandelyn Fulgenzi and Lauren Friedman earned the first doubles win for Arizona as they tried to secure the doubles point against BYU. Belen Nevenhoven and Midori Castillo-Meza fought to gain the other victory, but fell short 6-4 to Tina Li and Kara Wheatley. 

The fight continued as freshman Teja Tirunelveli dominated 6-4, 7-6(6), gaining Arizona a point on the board and earning her first Wildcat win. Martyna Ostryzgalo fought hard for the Cats as she won the second set of her match, but fell short to Tina Li 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. BYU extended their lead leaving the match at 4-1 in their favor. 

Later in the evening the Wildcats faced Michigan State in doubles, continuing singles Saturday morning. Arizona dominated the courts, clinching the match once Fulgenzi/Friedman and Reece Carter/Ostryzgalo took down the Spartans. 

The Cats will resume play Saturday, January 20, at 11:00 AM(MST) for singles against Michigan State. Then following at 2:00 PM(MST), Arizona will take on Missouri to end the weekend at home.
