WACO, Texas – Championship season has arrived for Arizona Cross Country as they head to Texas for their first ever Big 12 Championships on Friday. The championship competition will be hosted by Baylor at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.

The event gets underway on Friday at 8:00 a.m. MST with the women's 6k, which will be followed by the men's 8k at 9:00 a.m. MST. The top 15 individual finishers in each race will be named to the All-Big 12 Team. Live results for both races can be found

The last time the Wildcats were in action, the team saw multiple personal bests, top 15 finishes, and wins at the Highlander Invitational in Riverside, Calif.
Gideon Mengich won the men's individual 8k at the competition with a personal best time of 23:42.8 as the men's team won the overall team title with a season best score of 65 points.
Ian Sanchez Lopez finished fourth overall and
Michael Urbanski placed eighth overall as well. Mengich,
Connor Grusendorf, and
Mateo Pimienta all posted 8k personal best times. Additionally, Mengich has finished first for the team and in the top 10 overall in all four of his competitions so far this season.

On the women's side, Arizona finished third overall in the team standings. They were led by
Molly Lakustiak who finished first for the team for the second time this season. Lakustiak placed fourth overall in the 6k with a personal best time of 20:48.0.
Brooklyn Hanania finished 15th overall and improved her personal best time by over a minute. Laura Holánszky and
Kara Mickelson also clocked personal best times for the Wildcats. Additionally,
Lydia Russell and
Alisa Lyesina have also finished first for the women's team this season.
