ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Wildcats' track & field squad will return to the Albuquerque Convention Center for the second time this season to compete in the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Friday and Saturday.
"This weekend will be the highest level of competition we have faced all season," said Head Coach
Fred Harvey. "Outside of the NCAA Championships, it will be the deepest field of talent we face this season. Our expectations are to come away with a number of top 20 NCAA performances in both programs."
The two-day competition, hosted by the University of New Mexico, begins at 9:45 a.m. MST on Friday and at 9:20 a.m. MST on Saturday, with heptathlon events starting each day. Unlike last week's meet, the two days will not be split into specifically men's and women's events and will instead be broken up by event groups. Live results for both days of competition can be found
here. The meet can also be purchased to stream on
FloTrack.

Arizona had an impressive outing last weekend at the River Hawk Invitational in Boston, Mass. Eight Wildcats won a total of nine different individual events, with six wins coming from the men and nine coming for the women.
Trayvion White-Austin won both the men's 60m and the men's 200m at the competition, continuing what has been a fast start to the season. He has already set the Arizona school record in the 200m (breaking his own previous record), is 0.03 seconds off of the 60m school record, and has finished in the top-four in every event he has competed in so far this season.
Â
Other winners at the River Hawk Invitational included
Isaac Davis (400m),
Tapenisa Havea (shot put),
Zach Landa (shot put),
Reinaldo Rodrigues (long jump),
Ian Sanchez Lopez (3000m),
McKenna Watson (200m), and
Taylen Wise (triple jump). Both Rodrigues and Wise posted personal best performances to help secure their victories. In total, the Wildcats had 20 overall top-three finishes on the weekend.
Â
At this season's earlier meet in Albuquerque, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational, the Wildcats had six top-three placings, including the 200m school record from White-Austin.
Diana Ramos was the team's highest finisher at the meet, placing second in the women's high jump.
Â
Entering this weekend's competition, the Arizona Men are ranked fourth in the West Region by the USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rating Index, and the Arizona Women are ranked fifth. Additionally, the Wildcats have five different event groups ranked in the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings: the men's shot put is ranked second, women's long jump eighth, men's 200m 13th, women's high jump 18th, and women's shot put 18th.
