Cats Homer Three Times to Mercy Rule Northern Colorado

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona won the final game of the Candrea Classic 8-0, in six innings over Northern Colorado. Dakota Kennedy hit two home runs and Emily Schepp hit her first career homer to push Arizona past UNC.
 
Three Wildcats – Kaiah Altmeyer, Logan Cole, and Kennedy – had two hits each and both of Cole's hits were doubles. Kennedy and Schepp both drove in two runs for Arizona.
 
In the first at-bat of the game for Arizona, Kennedy hit her first home run of the season to get the Cats on the board. Altmeyer then drove in DiNardo with an RBI double.
 
In the third, Kennedy led off the inning with another solo home run to give Arizona a three-run lead over the Bears.
 
The Wildcats scored three runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0. Schepp hit a two-run homer and Cole stole home for the third run of the inning.
 
Cole hit her second double of the game to score Altmeyer in the fifth. Blaise Biringer walked off the game with an RBI double in the sixth.
 
In the circle, Aissa Silva picked up the win to improve to 3-0 this season. She pitched the final 1.1 innings and retired the four batter she faced. Miranda Stoddard got the start and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit. Ali Blanchard was the first relief pitcher, striking out one batter and allowing only one hit. Brooke Mannon entered in the fifth to face three batters before Silva entered the circle.
 
Up next
The Wildcats will host the Bear Down Fiesta Thursday, Feb. 15-Sunday, Feb. 18. Arizona will welcome Arkansas, Long Beach State, and Omaha for the tournament.
