SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The Arizona Wildcats (3-2) rallied late but ultimately fell to the San Diego Toreros (3-2) in their series opener on Friday night. The final score at Fowler Park was 10-8.
Arizona did not go down quietly, pushing four runs across in the top of the ninth inning to cut the Toreros lead to just two runs. After loading the bases, left fielder
Brendan Summerhill got the first run across on a sac fly to left center. Shortstop
Mason White followed two pitches later with a three-run home run to right center, his second long ball of the young season.
Starting pitcher
Jackson Kent worked a quality start for the Cats, allowing just three earned runs on five hits while striking out five across 6.0 innings of work. He did not factor into the decision.
