TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona improved to 3-0 after a pair of run-rule walkoff wins over Lipscomb and North Texas on Friday night.
Brooke Mannon and
Ali Blanchard combined to throw the 10th perfect game
– and the first combined – in program history against Lipscomb.
Game 1 | Arizona 8, Lipscomb 0 (5 inn.)
The Wildcats won the first game of the day, 8-0, against Lipscomb courtesy of a perfect game from Mannon and Blanchard. In Mannon's first start as a Wildcat, she struck out five of the 12 batters she faced through four innings and earned the win. Blanchard entered in the fifth and struck out one Bison.
Arizona scored three runs in the second inning on a two-RBI double from
Emily Schepp and a sacrifice fly from
Jasmine Perezchica. In the third inning, the Wildcats made it a 4-0 game when
Allie Skaggs scored on a double from
Blaise Biringer.
Carlie Scupin hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to add to Arizona's lead.
In the fifth, Biringer scored on an RBI single, and
Logan Cole walked off the game on a wild pitch from Lipscomb.
Game 2 | Arizona 8, North Texas 0 (5 inn.)
Arizona beat North Texas, 8-0, in five innings in the second game of the day.
Olivia DiNardo hit a grand slam and went 2-for-3 with five RBI.
After a scoreless two innings, the Wildcats exploded for six runs in the third. DiNardo's grand slam opened up the scoring and Biringer scored on an RBI groundout from Schepp.
Regan Shockey scored on a wild pitch to round out the inning.
In the fourth, DiNardo singled to score Perezchica to make it 7-0.
Dakota Kennedy walked off the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
In the circle,
Aissa Silva picked up the win after pitching 2.2 innings in relief of
Miranda Stoddard. Silva struck out three of the seven batters she faced. Stoddard started the game and struck out three batters in 2.1 innings.
