BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 21 Arizona won the first game of the series over No. 19 California, 9-5, on Friday afternoon in Berkeley.
The Wildcats totaled 16 hits and six players had multiple hits.
Dakota Kennedy,
Emily Schepp, and
Regan Shockey led the team with three hits each.
Tayler Biehl went 2-for-4 and led the Cats with two RBI.
Arizona struck first with two runs to open the game.
Allie Skaggs drove in the first run on an RBI single to score

Regan Shockey scored on a wild pitch to plate the second run.
In the second, the Wildcats scored three runs on three RBI singles. Kennedy singled up the middle to push the first run across. Shockey scored
Kaiah Altmeyer on a squeeze play and
Carlie Scupin drove in the third run of the inning with a single to left field.
Cal hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the second to cut into Arizona's lead. The Golden Bears tied the game in the bottom of the third with a two-RBI double.
Arizona broke the tie in the fifth inning on a two-run double from Biehl. With the bases loaded, Shockey drove in Arizona's eighth run of the game for a three-run lead.
Altmeyer hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to score Arizona's ninth run.
In the circle,
Aissa Silva earned the win to improve to 13-3 on the season. She entered in relief and allowed just two runs on five hits in 4.2 innings.
Miranda Stoddard started the game for Arizona, going 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits, before Silva entered in the third.
