TUCSON, Ariz. — Three home runs were not enough for the Arizona Wildcats (10-13) in a 12-9 midweek loss to the New Mexico State Aggies (11-13) on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Shortstop
Mason White, second baseman
Garen Caulfield, and designated hitter
Brendan Summerhill all left the yard for the Wildcats and combined to drive in six of Arizona's nine runs on the night. White's three-run jack in the seventh inning was his team-leading ninth of the season.
In the high-scoring affair, three Wildcat relievers shone. Right-handers
Tony Pluta,
Kyler Heyne, and
Dawson Netz all threw scoreless innings and held the Aggies hitless while striking out six.
Arizona starting pitcher Anthony Susac (0-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over three innings of work. The right-hander struck out three and issued no walks.
