TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona football opened its first Spring Camp under the leadership of Head Coach Brent Brennan, with excitement for the future of the program led by a veteran roster.Â
The Wildcats hit the practice field for the first time in spring ball and opened in front of an impressive crowd on Tuesday at Tomey Practice Fields. Spring was in the air as Coach Brennan and a new coaching staff led the team through their first workout of 15 scheduled practices.
Spring practice will conclude on April 27 with the Red vs. Blue Spring Game at 6 p.m. inside Arizona Stadium.Â
Noah Fifita connected with tight end
Keyan Burnett for a spectacular touchdown in the back of the end zone and wide receiver
Tetairoa McMillan for a similar back-of-the-end zone pass for a touchdown. The defense led by
Bill Norton,
Jacob Manu, and
Justin Flowe from defensive line to linebackers looked ready to make plays and pick up where it left off after last season's Valero Alamo Bowl win that involved forcing six turnovers.Â
Key defensive returners
Gunner Maldonado,
Treydan Stukes,
Dalton Johnson, and
Tacario Davis spoke to the media following practice.
Quote of the Day
"I think that player-led teams are really special. The best teams I've ever been a part of were player-led. And they continue to lead - workouts or practice today or in the media room or in the weight room. I think that part of it is really, really obvious, that they care a lot about each other. And the leaders continue to lean into that and get the rest of the team to lean into that."Â
