SEATTLE, Wash. — The No. 16 Arizona Wildcats (26-15, 14-6) dropped game two to the Washington Huskies (15-20-1, 7-13) on a final score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in Seattle.
Starting pitcher
Clark Candiotti was strong, but got tagged with the loss after allowing four runs (just two earned) across five innings of work. The right-hander struck out six along the way.
The Wildcats bullpen was spectacular, allowing the Arizona hitters to stay alive in the late innings. Southpaw
Eric Orloff (1.0 IP) and right-hander
Dawson Netz (2.0 IP) combined to hold the Huskies scoreless on zero hits down the final stretch.
Four Arizona hitters picked up multiple hits in the game, led by a 3-for-3 performance from third baseman
Maddox Mihalakis. The Wildcats managed to get the tying run in scoring position in the top of the ninth inning but could not complete the rally.
