STANFORD, Calif. — Two home runs from
Mason White and lockdown pitching gave the Arizona Wildcats (18-13) a 12-1 run-rule victory over the Stanford Cardinal (13-17) on Monday afternoon at Sunken Diamond.
The Wildcats rout of the Cardinal gave them eight consecutive wins and completed a perfect 4-0 road trip to the Bay Area.
White cracked open the scoring with a towering three-run home run in the third inning; it was his 12th home run of the year and it gave Arizona a 3-1 lead they would never surrender. He added another three-run blast, an opposite field poke, in the top of the eighth inning to give the Cats enough runs for a mercy rule victory.
Starting pitcher
Josh Morano, making his second career start, did not factor into the decision after working 1.2 one-run innings. Southpaw
Bradon Zastrow earned his first win of the season with 2.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief.
