Wildcats Head to Texas for Corky Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas – Arizona Track & Field continues their indoor season on Friday and Saturday with the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center. The competition is the second of the season for the Wildcats.
The meet begins on Friday with field events starting at 2:00 p.m. MST and running events beginning at 3:00 p.m. MST. On Saturday both field and running events will begin at 10:00 a.m. MST. Both days of competition will be available to watch on ESPN+ ($). The day one stream can be found here and day two here. Live results for both days can be found here.
"As a program, the Friday Night Axe'em Open was one of the best openers during my time here at Arizona," said Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Fred Harvey. "The Corky Classic at Texas Tech will provide us with a greater challenge as we will see some of the great programs in the NCAA. Kentucky, Miami, Texas Tech, and Baylor are among some of the top programs that will compete. This is a great next challenge for our athletes, and we will compete at the site of the Big-12 Indoor Championships this February. It will tell us a lot about who we are as a team."
The Wildcats kicked off their indoor season last weekend with the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open in Flagstaff, Ariz. The team started the year strong, recording three school records, seven event wins, 13 top-three finishes, and numerous personal bests at the competition. The Wildcat trio of Jade Brown (60m), Zach Extine (60m Hurdles), and McKenna Watson (300m) all broke program records and won their respective events. All three previous records were at least 19 years old. Alongside those three, Tapenisa Havea (Shot Put), Tyler Michelini (Shot Put), Paris Mikinski (High Jump), and Trayvion White-Austin (60m) all also won individual events at the meet. Overall, the team posted numerous marks that rank among the best in the nation and Big 12.
