TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona Women's Tennis defeated Loyola Marymount and UC San Diego in their season home opener Friday. 

Facing off against LMU in the morning match, the Cats secured the doubles point. Newcomer Zoya Chulak and Tanvi Narendran started off with a 6-0 shutout against Fiona Arrese and Isabelle Tcherkes-Zade. Belen Nevenhoven and Josie Usereau finished shortly after, clinching doubles with a 6-1 win over Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik and Camilia Samel-Druz. Now up 2-0 due to a forfeit, Narendran secured the first singles win, defeating Martina Bovio 6-2, 6-1. Martyna Ostrzygalo clinched the match with a straight set 6-1, 6-4 win over Camilia Samel-Druz for a 4-0 Arizona win. 

The doubles point was awarded to Arizona in the afternoon match as well, with wins from Usereau/Ostrzygalo and Chulak/Tuhten. In singles play, four of six Cats won their singles matches in two sets, and two won in third-set tie-breakers.
