Taylor McQuillin and Dejah Mulipola Drafted to AUSL

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball alumni Taylor McQuillin and Dejah Mulipola were selected to the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) on Wednesday night during the first-ever AUSL Draft. The pair were both top 10 picks in the inaugural AUSL draft.

The creation of the AUSL was announced in June by Athletes Unlimited (AU). The new league will feature four teams – the Bandits, Blaze, Talons, and Volts – that will play in a traditional format while traveling to 6-8 different cities in the first season. Beginning in 2026, AUSL will become a city-based league. Arizona Softball legends, Jennie Finch and Jenny Dalton-Hill will be involved with the AUSL. Finch will serve as an advisor to the league and Dalton-Hill will lead the Bandits as General Manager.

McQuillin, who was picked by the Bandits in the second round as the eighth overall pick, has played professionally in Japan and with Athletes Unlimited since she graduated from Arizona in 2019. McQuillin's highest finish with AU was fourth place in the 2024 AUX season. She was also a member of the Mexican Women's National Softball Team at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics. During her time at Arizona from 2016-19, McQuillin was an NFCA All-American and four-time All-Pac-12 pitcher. She still ranks seventh in program history in career strikeouts (815), ninth in career victories (80 wins), and 10th in career ERA (1.95).

Mulipola, who was selected to the Volts in the third round as the 10th overall pick, has played professionally with Athletes Unlimited for three years from 2021-23. In 2022, Mulipola was crowned champion of the Athletes Unlimited Championship Season, now called the All-Star Cup. She made AU history as the first position player to win an individual title in the league's existence. Additionally, Mulipola has been a member of Team USA for five years and was a member of the silver medal team at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. As a Wildcat, Mulipola was a two-time NFCA All-American and two-time NFCA Catcher of the Year. She ranks ninth in Arizona career history with 68 home runs and fifth with 1,432 career putouts.
