TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona women's basketball head coach Becky Burke announced the signing of Makayla Presser-Palmer, a 5-foot-11 guard/forward from East Springfield, Pennsylvania, and Northwestern Senior High School, as part of the Wildcats' 2026 recruiting class.
Ranked No. 63 overall by ESPN and rated a four-star prospect, Presser-Palmer is one of Pennsylvania's most decorated high school players. She was named the 2024 Erie County Girls Basketball Player of the Year, a MaxPreps Player of the Week honoree, Erie Times Athlete of the Week, and First Team All-State selection as a junior. She reached 1,000 career points as a sophomore and holds Northwestern's all-time scoring record (1,813 points and counting).
"I chose Arizona because right when I stepped on campus I felt so welcomed and at home," Presser-Palmer said. "The coaching staff cared so much about me, and when I met the team, we instantly bonded. Academics are really important to me, and I know Arizona will help me succeed in every way. I love Coach Burke's fast, downhill, and competitive style — her energy and will to win match exactly how I play."
During her junior campaign, she averaged 28.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, showcasing her ability to dominate on both ends of the floor. Off the court, she has earned four consecutive Honor Roll recognitions and is on track to graduate Magna Cum Laude in 2026.
"Makayla is an incredibly gifted athlete with an extremely dynamic skill set. She can score at all three levels and plays extremely well in transition. Makayla will be invaluable on the defensive end of the floor as well, being able to guard opponents' best guards and rebounds the ball tremendously," said Burke.
"I have known Makayla and her family for a long time and couldn't be happier to have her join us in Tucson."
