Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona women's basketball team took down the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona, earning its fourth win of the season, 87-76, on Friday night inside the McKale Center.
Arizona had four players in double-figures tonight, led by
Mickayla Perdue with 27 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc.
Sumayah Sugapong and
Noelani Cornfield both contributed 11 points, and
Tanyuel Welch added 10 points for the Wildcats tonight. With Sugapong's 11 points tonight, she reached 1,000 career points. Sugapong also led the Wildcats tonight with five assists, and Cornfield added four of her own.
The Wildcats defense forced 22 Lumberjack turnovers, led by Sugapong's four steals on the night. Their defense helped them jump out to a 15-point lead midway through the 4th, and they were able to hold on down the stretch.
Arizona was dominant inside, outscoring Northern Arizona 58-26 in the paint. The Wildcats jumped out to a lead late in the first half, led by an 11-point run midway through the 2nd period.
The Wildcats are now 4-0 on the season and look to improve their hot start Tuesday, November 25th against Northern Colorado at 6 p.m. MST inside the McKale Center. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
