Wildcats Sweep Two-Day Meet vs. Texas A&M

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Swim competed against the Texas A&M Aggies for a two-day meet on Friday, December 19th, and Saturday, December 20th. Both the men's and women's teams came out with a victory.
 
Friday, December 19th
 
The Wildcats dominated on the first day of this two-day meet against the Aggies. They controlled the opening day against Texas A&M, with both teams having 11 first-place finishes and placing in the top three 28 times in 16 events. Arizona's depth was on full display today.
 
The relay teams proved to be difference makers yet again, winning all four events. Both 400-yard medley teams opened the day with wins, and both 200-yard free teams ended the day the same.
 
Individually, Arizona had strong performances throughout. Julia Wozniak contributed to the two women's relay wins and won the women's 100-yard free. Tavner Wisdom helped in the breaststroke events and helped secure points in the relay.  Eleni Gewalt won the 100-yard breaststroke, and Ralph Daleiden delivered in both sprint events. Duncan Henderson, Kayman Neal, and Maryam Sheikhalizadehkhanghah all contributed to the relays as well.
 
Arizona will look to continue this momentum into tomorrow morning.
 
First Place Second Place Third Place Saturday, December 20th
 
The Cats kept the momentum for the second day against Texas A&M, with eight first-place finishes and 33 top-three times across 18 events. Arizona's versatility was showcased today, with at least one podium finish in every event.
 
The Wildcats set the tone early in the meet with a win by the men's 200-yard medley relay race. Relay races were proven to be a strong suit again today and helped contribute points to both wins.
 
Riley Botton was an asset today, winning the women's 50 free and placing in both relays. Haakon Naughton also won the men's 100 fly and contributed to a 200 medley relay win. Kayman Neal has continued to improve this season, winning the women's 200 back, placing second in the women's 200 free, and placing in the women's 400 free relay.
 
Arizona continued to apply pressure in later events to secure podium finishes all the way to the end. The Cats finished the two-day meet with victories for both the men's and women's teams. The men's team beat the Aggies 188.50 to 124.50, and the women's team won 179 to 135.
The women's team will have another home meet next, January 9th, against Northern Arizona University and Colorado State University.
