Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 11 Arizona lost, 8-4, in eight innings to No. 1 Texas on Saturday at the Hillenbrand Invitational.
Three Wildcats –
Kaiah Altmeyer,
Regan Shockey, and
Devyn Netz – all recorded two hits and
Sydney Stewart led the Cats a three-run home run.
Texas struck first with three runs to open the game. A two-run single and an RBI single gave the Longhorns an early 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first, Arizona answered back with three runs to tie the game. Altmeyer and Shockey singled to get on base for Stewart's three-run homer – her fifth home run of the season.
After four scoreless innings, Texas took a 4-3 lead with an RBI double. Altmeyer tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to left field to score
Logan Cole from second and send the game to extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Texas scored four on a sacrifice fly and a three-run home run but Arizona wasn't able to answer back.

Saya Swain picked up the loss after pitching the final 2.0 innings and giving up Texas' four runs in the eighth.
Miranda Stoddard pitched the opening inning and allowed three runs on three hits before
Devyn Netz entered in relief. Netz held the Longhorns to one run on three hits in the middle innings.
