White and Summerhill Pick Up NCBWA Preseason All-America Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball shortstop Mason White and outfielder Brendan Summerhill were both selected to the NCBWA's Preseason All-America Second Team on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats duo have now earned Preseason All-Big 12 honors, Perfect Game Preseason All-America selections, and today's honors. Summerhill was also previously tabbed as a Preseason All-American by Baseball America.

White, a Tucson native, has been a regular member of the Wildcats lineup for two years and is a .309 career hitter. He enjoyed a career year as a sophomore in 2024, hitting .305 with 55 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, and 65 RBI across 59 starts. His 19 home runs paced the team, were tied for the second most in the Pac-12, and were the eighth most in a single season in program history. White's explosive sophomore season earned him a spot on the Pac-12 All-Conference and All-Tournament teams, as well as a selection to the ABCA West All-Region First Team. In his Wildcat career he has accumulated 138 hits, 105 runs, 28 doubles, nine triples, 29 home runs, and 100 RBI.

Summerhill, hailing from Chicago, burst onto the national scene last year with a red-hot performance, ultimately finishing the year leading the Wildcats in both batting average (.324) and on-base percentage (.399) while scoring 50 runs and slugging 32 extra-base hits. Across 80 career collegiate games, Summerhill has hit .311 with 62 runs, 37 extra-base hits, 65 RBI, and nine stolen bases. His late game heroics, a walk-off two-run double, against Oregon State on May 18 secured the Wildcats sixth and final Pac-12 regular season championship and vaulted him into a successful postseason that included a selection to the Pac-12 All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.

The Wildcats kick off the 2025 season next Friday, Feb. 14 at the Shriners Children's College Showdown in Arlington, Texas where they will face off against Ole Miss, No. 15 Clemson, and Louisville. They return to Hi Corbett Field for their home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2:00 p.m. MST against New Mexico.

Fans can get a preview of the 2025 Wildcats this Saturday, Feb. 8 at the annual Meet the Team event at Hi Corbett Field. Festivities begin at 2:00 p.m. MST with a scrimmage, followed by a full-team autograph session. Tickets can be purchased for just $5 and are available HERE.
