TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 7 Arizona Wildcats (25-4 (3-2 Big 12)) won their first Big 12 series with an 8-6 win over Utah on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona scored eight runs on eight hits and
Kaiah Altmeyer and
Devyn Netz each had two RBI. Altmeyer and
Dakota Kennedy both recorded two hits to lead the offense.

The Cats scored two in the first inning to get on the board. Netz singled in the first run and
Sydney Stewart had an RBI groundout to bring home the second run. Utah scored one in the top of the second on an RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, Arizona plated three runs to take a 5-1 lead over Utah.
Tayler Biehl took advantage of a throwing error by the Utes to score the first run of the inning. Altmeyer doubled in Kennedy and Netz hit a sacrifice fly to score
Regan Shockey. Â

Utah hit a solo home run to bring the game within three runs in the top of the third.

Arizona scored a run in the fourth on an RBI groundout from Altmeyer. In the fifth, the Cats added two more runs to take an 8-2 lead.
Miranda Stoddard hit a single to left field and Stewart scored on a Utah fielding error.
Zaedi Tagalog came home on a wild pitch to score Arizona's eighth run of the game.

In the sixth, Utah hit a grand slam to bring the game within two runs, but
Saya Swain shut down the Utah offense. Â Â

Swain picked up her first save, entering after the grand slam in the sixth and retiring the four batters she faced.
Miranda Stoddard earned the win to improve to 6-0. She pitched 3.1 innings in relief, allowing just one run on five hits.
Ryan Maddox started the game in the circle, going 1.1 innings before Stoddard entered.
Aissa Silva came in after Stoddard and pitched one inning. Â
