TUCSON, Ariz.- The Cats dominated LaNelle this weekend securing another two victories against West Virginia and Grand Canyon. Today's doubleheader lead to a 4-0 and 5-0 victory for Arizona as they continue through conference play.
The morning started of amazing as the Wildcats were quick to earn the doubles point in their match against West Virginia. Seniors Midori Castillo- Meza and Belen Nevenhoven got it rolling for Arizona with their 6-2 win. Martyna Ostrzygalo and Zoya Chulak dominated on court two against Maja Dodik (WVU) and Lyla Byers (WVU) 6-3.
The momentum continues throughout singles play. Castillo earned her second win of the day in a straight-set 6-1, 6-2. Tanvi Narendran followed closely with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Laurea V Morillo (WVU). No.37 Josie Usereau clinched the match for the Cats 6-2, 6-2.
The match against Grand Canyon continued on with the same energy. The Wildcats were able to grasp the doubles point on courts one and three. Usereau and Danielle Tuhten started it off with a 6-3 win. Ostryzgalo and Teja Tirunelveli followed with a 6-4 victory on court three.
Arizona was quick to extend their lead over the Lopes with a 5-0 sweep. Zoya Chulak dominated her court against Peyton Duckett (GCU) 6-3, 6-2. Narendran battled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Castillo-Meza clinched the win for Arizona in a straight set 6-2, 6-2. Tirunelveli overpowered Angelina Mihajlovic (GCU) 6-3, 6-1.
The Cats are back in action Friday, Mar. 21 at 2:00 PM (MST). Arizona will be heading to Manhattan, Kan. against Kansas State.
