LUBBOCK, Texas. – No. 30 Arizona Women's Tennis closed out the regular season with a 4-1 loss to No. 15 Texas Tech on Sunday morning at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Wildcats dropped the doubles point after matches on courts one and three. Arizona's No. 37-ranked pair of Danielle Tuhten and Josie Usereau faced off against the No. 6 duo in the country on court one, while freshman Zoya Chulak partnered with senior Belen Nevenhoven on court three. Midori Castillo-Meza and Martyna Ostrzygalo were in a tight battle on court two, trailing 5-3 when the match was left unfinished.
In singles, Ostrzygalo delivered Arizona's point with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win on court three. Usereau, ranked No. 61, led 5-4 in the second set of a competitive match on court one before it was called unfinished. Tuhten was level at 2-2 in the second set on court four when play concluded.
Arizona finishes the regular season at 18-9 overall and 8-5 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats now turn their attention to the Big 12 Championships, which will take place April 16-20 in Waco, Texas.
