No. 13 Wildcats Take Down No. 14 Texas Tech in Game One

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 13 Arizona won the first game of the series against No. 14 Texas Tech 2-1 on Thursday night. The Wildcats improved to 37-7 (14-5 Big 12) with the win.  
 
Arizona scored two runs on five hits and Devyn Netz hit a two-run home run to push the Cats to the win. Netz also picked up her 17th win in the circle after pitching five innings in relief and striking out five.
 
Texas Tech scored one run in the first inning on an RBI single. In the bottom of the first, Netz hit her 15th home run of the season – a two-run shot to left field – to give Arizona the lead.
 
The rest of the game was a pitcher's duel with neither team allowing a run to score through the final six innings. Arizona had six baserunners through the final six innings but couldn't bring another run across.
 
Miranda Stoddard began the game in the circle, going two innings and allowing just one run on three hits before Netz entered in the third. Netz retired the final seven batters to keep hold the Red Raiders to just one run and secure the victory for Arizona.
