#16 Wildcats Face Mavericks on Wednesday

TUCSON, Ariz. — The No. 16 Arizona Wildcats (28-11) host the UT Arlington Mavericks (13-23) for a midweek non-conference game this Wednesday, April 23 at Hi Corbett Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. MST.

Wednesday's game will be televised on ESPN+ and broadcast live on Wildcats Radio 1290 AM, with both options featuring play-by-play from Brian Jeffries.

Fans are encouraged to bring their canine friends to the ballpark on Wednesday for the program's annual Bark in the Park event.

Arizona has rattled off three consecutive winning weekends and has come away from eight of their last 11 games victorious, vaulting them into the Top 20 of most all major national polls.

  • The Arizona Wildcats return home for a brief one-game homestand when they host the UT Arlington Mavericks for a non-conference game this Wednesday.

  • This will mark the first-ever meeting on the baseball diamond between Arizona and UT Arlington. The Mavericks are one of four first-time opponents for the Wildcats this season.
  • Shortstop Mason White was selected as the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week on Monday. The junior from Tucson hit .474 (9-for-19) with four runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, and six RBI across a 3-1 week. He is the first Wildcat to earn conference Player of the Week honors since Chase Davis and Kiko Romero in 2023.
  • Mason White currently ranks fourth in program history with 38 career home runs. He sits just one home run shy of a tie for third. Of his 38 career home runs, 28 have been hit away from Hi Corbett Field at road/neutral venues.
  • 39 games into the season the Wildcats have collected a Division I best 27 triples, more than they collected in 59 games last season. 21 of Arizona's 27 triples have been hit at home.
  • Arizona's defense has excelled at turning double plays this season; they currently lead the Big 12 and rank tied for fifth nationally with 38 twin killings. Their average of just under one double play turned per game (0.97) is the fifth-best mark in the nation.
