Biography

Arizona 2025 (Senior)
Critical piece in the Arizona rotation…Appeared in 21 games, with eight starts throughout the season…Posted an ERA of 2.81 and a record of 2-0…Pitched 57.2 innings during the season and recorded 46 strikeouts to just 18 walks while holding opposing hitters to a measly average of .229…First appearance of the season came against No. 15 Clemson (2/15) where he pitched three innings in relief, allowing two hits and zero runs…Started on the mound against Arizona State (3/11) and had a stellar performance, pitching three innings and allowing just one hit and zero runs, while striking out two batters and earning the win…Started on the mound against Kansas (3/18), going four innings and allowing two hits and no runs, while striking out five batters and picking up the win…Entered the game in relief against Baylor (3/29) and threw four scoreless innings, allowing just three hits…Threw 3.2 scoreless innings in relief against TCU (5/3), allowing two hits and striking out four batters, as he earned the victory. POSTSEASON: Started on the mound against West Virginia in the Semifinal Game of the Big 12 Tournament and had a tremendous outing, throwing six scoreless innings and earning the victory as Arizona advanced to the Championship Game…Started against North Carolina in Game Two of the Chapel Hill Super Regional, pitching one inning and allowing two runs.

Made eight appearances with three starts in his junior campaign with the Wildcats...Pac-12 Conference regular season and tournament team champion...Went 0-2 with a 11.12 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 11.1 innings...Picked up starting assignments at TCU on Feb. 28 (3.0,4,3,3,1,2), at New Mexico State on April 24 (1.0,1,0,0,1,1), and against Grand Canyon on April 30 (1.0,4,4,4,1,1)...Earned a save in Arizona debut against No. 23 Northeastern on Feb. 16 (3.0,0,0,0,0,4)...Held opponents without an earned run on three occasions...Struck out at least one batter in every outing, including a season-high four against No. 23 Northeastern on Feb. 16...Made two relief appearances during Pac-12 Conference play. POSTSEASON: Did not play.

Before Arizona
Logged two seasons at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix in 2022 and 2023…Made 31 total appearances (25 starts) with the Cougars and went 10-7 with a 3.99 ERA (55ERx124.0IP) and 121 strikeouts…As a sophomore in 2023, went 6-3 with a 3.15 ERA (24ERx68.2IP) and 68 strikeouts across 15 games (12 starts)…2023 Prep Baseball Report Preseason #5 JUCO player in the nation…Prepped at Rio Rico High School and lettered four years in baseball as a first baseman, third baseman, and pitcher under head coach Mo Duran…Earned All-Region honors as a senior…Holds the Rio Rico HS career strikeout record…Upon signing with Arizona, became the only Power Five baseball player in Rio Rico HS history…Excelled in the classroom as well, earning Honor Roll recognition.

Raul Andres Garayzar (gar-aye-ZAR)…Son of Raul and Virginia Garayzar…One younger brother, Diego, and one older sister, Alexis…Majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Economy and Industry...Sister, Alexis, played NAIA softball at Lindsey Wilson College…Enjoys learning history, off-roading, hiking, cooking, watching baseball, and playing guitar in his free time…Can play “Billie Jean” on the guitar and makes Thanksgiving dinner every year for his family…Chose Arizona because, “The staff, players, coaches, and Arizona’s history of being a high-caliber program. I grew up coming to Hi Corbett Field and I knew winning a College World Series at Arizona would mean more to me than anywhere else.”
