GREEN BAY, Wis. – Former Arizona offensive lineman
Jonah Savaiinaea was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round (37th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Â
Savaiinaea joins Jordan Morgan as an offensive lineman from Arizona to be selected in consecutive drafts. He is the third Arizona offensive lineman since 2009 to be selected in the NFL Draft. Miami traded up to the No. 37 pick and dealt the 48th, 98th, and 135th to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Â
Savaiinaea became the second Wildcat drafted this year, joining wide receiver
Tetairoa McMillan, who was drafted eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.
Â
Savaiinaea was a mainstay on the offensive line during his three seasons with the Wildcats, starting 36 games over three seasons. He played 2,418 snaps - 1,057 at right tackle, 985 at right guard, and 345 at left tackle according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
He led the team in offensive blocking grade (75.9 per PFF), allowing four sacks over 738 total snaps during the 2024 season. Big Jonah earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention following the 2024 season.
Â
Before the 2024 season, Savaiinaea was placed on the Reese's Senior Bowl watch list and made a dominant appearance in late February. He unofficially recorded the third-fastest 40-yard dash time (4.95 seconds) for offensive linemen at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.Â
Â
In 2023, he earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. He was named to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watch list before the 2023 and 2024 seasons, as well as the Outland Trophy watch list (2023) and the Lombardi Award watch list (2024), each of his last two seasons with Arizona.
Â
It's the first time Arizona has had multiple picks in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft since running back Trung Canidate (St. Louis Rams) and wide receiver Dennis Northcutt (Cleveland Browns) led Arizona's five-player draft class in 2000.
Â
Savaiinaea is the fourth player in program history to be drafted by the Dolphins, joining defensive tackle Lionel Dotson (2008), linebacker Brant Boyer (1994) and running back Greg Boyd (1973). Â
