TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track & Field is set to host their final regular season home meet, the Desert Heat Classic, at Drachman Stadium on Saturday. The competition will feature a senior awards ceremony and the annual Fastest Kid in Tucson race.
 
The competition will feature some of the top teams in the nation, such as Oregon, Nebraska, Washington, Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, New Mexico, and Northern Arizona, among others. On Saturday, field events begin at 10:00 a.m. MST and running events start at 4:30 p.m. MST. The senior awards presentation will be held at 4:00 p.m. MST. The Fastest Kid in Tucson race and the Code Red Student-Athlete race will be run at 6:25 p.m. MST. Live results for the full day of events can be found here.
 
This is the last ticketed home meet of the outdoor season for the Wildcats.

"The Desert Heat Classic continues to be one of the premier competitions in the world," said the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Fred Harvey. "Our Arizona Wildcats are getting ready for the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Championships, and this is the first step toward our championship aspirations. We will compete with the best in the world, and it will prepare us for these championships."
 
The Wildcats were last in action for a pair of California meets: the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational. At both meets, the Wildcats broke numerous personal and season bests. At Mt. SAC specifically, the team saw multiple top three finishes, including four individual event wins: Tapenisa Havea in the women's collegiate discus, Zach Landa in both the men's collegiate discus and men's elite shot put, and Michael Ogbeiwi in the men's collegiate hammer throw.
 
Other top three finishes included Zach Extine in the men's elite 110m hurdles, Sam Hala'ufia in the men's elite discus, Youssef Koudssi in the men's collegiate shot put, Ena McMahon in the women's collegiate pole vault, Tyler Michelini in the men's elite shot put, Paris Mikinski in the women's elite high jump, Mackenna Orie in the women's collegiate discus, and Antonia Sanchez Nunez in the women's elite 400m hurdles.
 
Landa's shot put mark at Mt. SAC was a personal best that ranked third all-time in school history and second in the NCAA at the time. His throw of 67-8.75 (20.64m) marked the first time that Landa surpassed 20m in his collegiate career. He is one of the handful of Wildcats who are ranked in the top 25 nationally.
